The Power Division has announced the commencement of privatizing electricity distribution companies nationwide.
The initial phase will target four companies: Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO), Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO), Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO), and Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO).
The next phase will include the privatization of additional companies such as Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) and Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO).
According to sources, the privatization effort will eventually cover all power sector organizations, with directives already issued for the privatization of twelve entities within the sector.
This move is part of the government’s broader strategy to reform the power sector and enhance its efficiency through privatization.
