Omar Ayub has resigned from his position as Secretary General of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), a decision promptly accepted by PTI founder Imran Khan.
Ayub made the announcement via a social media platform, expressing his gratitude to former prime minister Imran Khan for accepting his resignation, which he stated was to allow him to focus more on his responsibilities as Leader of the Opposition in Pakistan’s National Assembly.
The resignation letter, dated June 22, 2024, was addressed to Imran Khan and PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan.
During a meeting at Adyala Jail, Senator Shibli Faraz, Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, conveyed Ayub’s decision to Imran Khan.
Ayub hinted at upcoming changes in PTI’s organizational structure under Imran Khan’s direction, thanking party members, parliamentarians, and office bearers for their unwavering dedication and support.
