North Korea has announced to take part in the Russia-Ukraine conflict by joining the Russian troops. Currently, 10,000 North Korean soldiers are training in Russia.
After their training, reportedly these troops will join Russian forces on the front lines in Ukraine within a few weeks.
This event will raise international concerns over the ongoing Ukraine-Russian war. The United States Department of Defense expressed concern over North Korea’s involvement in this war.
This could further heighten regional tensions. The department spokesperson added, “If North Korea sends troops against Ukraine, it may prompt Western countries to intensify their support for Ukraine.”
According to the international media, The Guardian, this move could expand the scope of the Ukraine war, with possible impacts on NATO and European governments.
US officials see Russia’s decision to involve North Korean forces as a challenge that will increase pressure on Western allies.
