Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader and Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal said that no negotiations could take place with Imran Khan until he apologized for the events of May 9th.
Ahsan Iqbal emphasized the need for federal and provincial governments to review their expenditures to relieve the public from the burden of inflation. He said that today’s meeting also focused on reforms to provide cheaper electricity.
He made these remarks while talking to the reporters after the PML-N meeting in Lahore on Saturday.
The minister mentioned that the meeting reached a consensus on the necessity of establishing an effective local government system in the country. “Nawaz Sharif has directed reforms in the current local government system, and various proposals were discussed to further organize the party,” Iqbal said.
When asked about Imran Khan, Ahsan Iqbal remarked, “The PTI founding chairman is enjoying his time in jail, living in a five-star prison. We were also imprisoned but never complained. He is seeking an NRO, which he will not get. He must prove his innocence and provide the necessary documents.”
He added, “The PTI chairman is in the same cell where I was held. We don’t treat our opponents the way we were treated. No talks can happen with the PTI chairman until he apologizes for May 9th.”
The federal minister further stated, “Pakistan is currently facing an undeclared war. PTI, in collaboration with India, got an anti-Pakistan resolution passed in the US.”
Regarding a question about Nawaz Sharif’s possible trip to London, the PML-N Secretary General said, “There is no final plan for Nawaz Sharif to go to London. If he does, it will be for a medical check-up, and he will return after completing it,”.
