Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority, Nader Shafi has announced that a private airline is set to launch new air routes in smaller cities of Pakistan.
Shafi told that a private airline will begin operations in several smaller cities across the country.
He said that this facility of short flights will begin in the second quarter of 2025.
In a recent interview Nadir said that this service will work in Sukkur, Multan, Faisalabad, Sialkot, and Gwadar.
“There are no air routes in these main cities. This service will connect Pakistan’s primary and secondary airports. Hopefully, this service will facilitate the travelers”, Shafi added.
Shafi further told that by connecting these smaller cities to the national air network, air travel will become much more convenient for residents in these cities.
“This airline will begin operations with at least three small aircraft. Each plane will have capacity of between 40 and 50 passengers. This size is expected to be sufficient to fulfill the initial demand for these new routes” Shafi told.
Shafi disclosed that around 30 million people rely on ground transportation such as buses and trains, to travel between the northern and southern regions of the country. He said that this project will provide a faster and more comfortable alternative to current transportation options.
Shafi further told that the fare of these short flights will be affordable. DG said that this project will enhance regional connectivity.
