Netflix has announced to increase subscription prices in several countries, including the United States, Canada, Argentina, and Portugal in 2025.
The leading global streaming service company explained that the price adjustments are essential to further enhance the user experience for its growing international audience.
“We occasionally ask our members to contribute a bit more so we can continue improving Netflix,” the company announced in a statement.
This decision comes following a notable surge in subscribers, with nearly 19 million new users joining the service in late 2024. Netflix now boasts an impressive 300 million subscribers globally, solidifying its dominance in the competitive streaming industry.
According to Netflix announcement in the United States the standard ad-free plan will go up from $15.49 to $17.99 per month. While the ad-supported plan will rise by $1, reaching $7.99 monthly. The premium plan, which offers the best streaming quality and supports multiple devices, will increase by $2 to $24.99.
Similar changes will be implemented in Canada, Portugal, and Argentina.
Alongside the price hikes Netflix is also working to make its features more convenient and beneficial for its users. One of these is the “Extra Member with Ads” plan, which will allow ad-supported subscribers to include an additional member outside their household for an added fee. This initiative is part of Netflix’s ongoing efforts to address password-sharing issues.
