Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has proposed the formation of a Palestinian state within Saudi Arabia.
In an interview given to an Israeli TV channel, Netanyahu rejected the two-state solution and said that the establishment of a Palestinian state is a threat to Israel and that a Palestinian state should be established in Saudi Arabia.
Netanyahu was asked whether a state of Palestine is necessary for Israel’s relations with Saudi Arabia.
To which the Israeli Prime Minister replied that the Saudis could establish a state in their own country, they have a lot of land, and the establishment of a Palestinian state is a threat to Israel.
The Israeli Prime Minister said that the Palestinians had a state called Gaza, which was under the control of Hamas, and we saw what happened on October 7, so we do not accept a state.
Egypt has strongly condemned the Israeli Prime Minister’s statement.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry has issued a statement calling Netanyahu’s proposal a direct violation of Saudi sovereignty. The statement said that the security of Saudi Arabia is Egypt’s red line.
Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Secretary General Hussein Al-Sheikh also condemned the Israeli Prime Minister’s statement, saying that Israel is targeting Saudi Arabia and its sovereignty.
Hussein Al-Sheikh called the proposal a violation of international law and international conventions.
The Sheikh said that we affirm that the state of Palestine will only be on Palestinian land, and we appreciate the position of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its leadership, and its people, who always call for international legitimacy and the implementation of international law.
