The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued flood and landslide warning during monsoon season.
The Met office predicted the start of monsoon season in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other parts of Pakistan including Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Kashmir from July 1.
Heavy and light rains are expected during the season, with possibility of causing landslides and emergency situation.
As per weather forecast, light and above normal rains are expected in Punjab and Sindh from the first week of July. Heavy rains in parts of country could cause floods in nullahs and rivers, that may lead to flooding in low-lying areas of Punjab, KP, Sindh and Balochistan. The NDMA predicts landslide in Dera Ismail Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur districts along with Suleman and Kirthar mountain ranges with the possibility of urban flooding.
Meanwhile, severe heatwave prevails across Punjab and Sindh as the temperature in major cities crosses 43 degrees centigrade. Lahore temperature on Monday morning was 41 degree centigrade.
