Users across the country faced issues in accessing social media platform X on Monday, according to downdetector.com, an outage tracking Website.
Elon Musk has blamed this on a Cyber-attack against the service.
It is important to mention here that X is officially banned in Pakistan for access and use. According to the tracking website, 65 cases were reported by users about the outage of the platform at 3:02pm.
The number increased to 109 later in the evening at 9:00 Pm. These cases were reported in cities like Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore.
Meanwhile the platform also faced issues in United States. the tracker showed that thousands of users were restricted from accessing the social media platform.
26579 in United States while 10800 X users in United Kingdom reported an outage.
However, Elon Musk has blamed Cyber-attack for this. “There was (still is) a massive cyberattack against X. We get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources. Either a large, coordinated group and/or a country is involved,” Musk said in a post on the platform, saying an investigation was under way.
Industry insider revealed that X suffered multiple denial of service attacks starting at 9:45.
Denial of service attacks overwhelm websites with bogus requests, leading to substantial disruptions.
However, it’s been a year since X is ban in Pakistan. It was blocked days after the elections in Feb last year.
The officials have hinted that service is unlikely to be restored anytime soon.
