With the introduction of its first ‘Dematerialized Digital Identity Card’ under the World Bank-funded Digital Economy Enhancement Project (DEEP), Pakistan is set to make a significant step towards a digital future.
With a trial program set to begin on August 14, 2025, this endeavor will expedite the authentication procedure for numerous services.
One of the digital identity card’s main advantages is that it will completely change how people obtain government services. Users will be able to carry a digital ID on their cellphones thanks to integration with the Pak ID app, which provides a safer and more convenient option than physical cards.
To improve service authentication even more, the system will soon include digital verification procedures.

Additionally, he recognized NADRA’s contribution to national security, law enforcement, and governance initiatives.
With the goal of streamlining services and enhancing security for millions of citizens, the digital identity card represents a major milestone in the nation’s digital future, Naqvi continued.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended NADRA’s initiatives to use artificial intelligence and data integration to empower people and promote economic progress. He emphasized the importance of these digital solutions in advancing inclusion and propelling Pakistan’s economic growth.
