NADRA, The National Database and Registration Authority, NADRA, has recently issued a new B-Form to children aged ten and above.
This redesigned birth registration card is the first of its kind to include security features such as fingerprinting and photographing.
According to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, with this campaign, identity theft and misuse will come to an end.
Human trafficking, illegal passports, and fictitious identity cards will also be battled with the help of it.
NADRA will start the implementation of the new B-Form process gradually on January 15.
A parent or legal guardian must accompany the child to the NADRA center. A child’s electronic birth certificate and a parent’s electronic identification card are required.
After completion of the procedure, a B-Form with photo capability will be issued.
A new passport will now be issued with the updated B-Form.
No old B-Forms that are not accompanied by fingerprints and photographs will be allowed.
Future enhancements for identification purposes include the use of iris scans and linkage to provincial systems of Civil Registration Management Systems.
The Interior Ministry also unveiled plans to offer digital IDs to all Pakistanis and improve services on the Pak ID smartphone application. These steps are aimed at strengthening the identity management frameworks of the country and ensuring secure documentation for its citizens.
