The death toll in the Mustang remote control blast has risen to 9. The Mustang blast occurred near Girls High School.
Police reported that the blast killed school children, police officers, and passers-by, with the children aged between 5 to 10 years.
More than 30 were injured in the blast, most of whom were schoolchildren.
Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against an unknown accused. The charges against the criminal include attempted murder, murder, and other offenses.
The initial police report revealed that the perpetrators planted three to four kilograms of explosive material in the motorcycle and triggered the explosion with a remote-control device.
The terrorists targeted a police van, resulting in the death of 3 children, one police officer, and a passerby. They took the injured to the hospital for medical assistance.
Medical teams transferred 14 seriously injured individuals to a trauma center in Quetta. The Government of Balochistan condemned the blast near the school and requested a report from the Provincial Home Department.
Provincial Government spokesperson Shahid Rind stated that the district administration, bomb disposal squad, and security forces are on site, determining the explosion’s nature.
He mentioned that teams are collecting evidence from the scene, and hospitals have declared an emergency.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the school blast in Mastung. The PM expressed grief over the martyrdom of children and police personnel in the blast.
PM Shehbaz prayed for patience for the families of martyrs. He officially stated that targeting civilians and children is a serious crime, and security forces must halt it.
Acting president Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani condemned the explosion in Mastung.
He expressed his deep condolences and regret over the death of children and police personnel. He said that terrorists and terrorist organizations are enemies of humanity.
