Minister for States and Frontier Regions Engineer Amir Muqam demanded probe into the alleged misuse of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government funds for a political rally organized by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Islamabad.
Muqam raised these concerns during a joint press conference with Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, on Monday in Islamabad.
Attaullah Tarar, during the briefing, criticized the PTI leadership for their inappropriate language against state institutions and the Punjab Government. He stated that the public has rejected PTI, and the party is now engaging in mudslinging. Tarar emphasized that despite utilizing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s entire provincial resources, the PTI rally in Islamabad failed to draw significant public support.
“The frustration of PTI stems from its rejection by the people,” Tarar remarked, adding that instead of focusing on real issues, the party is directing its anger at the Punjab Government. He urged the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister to prioritize countering terrorism in the province and work with the federal government and armed forces to eliminate militant threats.
Tarar also accused PTI of being a foreign-funded party, aligning it with Zionist interests. He referenced articles in the Times of Israel and statements by the late Dr. Israr Ahmed to support his claim. Furthermore, Tarar criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for failing to initiate any substantial development projects and instead accused it of shielding corrupt elements.
The Information Minister expressed concerns over internal divisions within PTI, claiming these rifts have eroded public confidence in the party’s leadership.
He advised the KP Chief Minister to address provincial issues rather than engaging in divisive rhetoric.
Amir Muqam, echoing these sentiments, condemned PTI’s alleged misuse of public funds and its derogatory language at political gatherings.
Responding to a question, Tarar also condemned the abusive language used by PTI leaders against journalists, especially women. He assured full support for the media in this matter.
