The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Punjab has issued a fresh monsoon alert, forecasting that rain will persist across the province until July 31.
According to PDMA, the ongoing weather pattern will bring rains, strong winds, and thunderstorms to various areas including Lahore, Narowal, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, and Sialkot.
Despite the heavy rainfall, water levels in major rivers such as the Indus, Chenab, Ravi, Jhelum, and Sutlej are currently normal, with Mangla Dam at 58% capacity and Tarbela Dam at 70%, indicating no immediate flood risk.
In response to the adverse weather, PDMA DG Irfan Ali Kathia has urged all relevant agencies to remain vigilant and prepared for any potential challenges posed by the continuing rains.
The Met Department has also issued warnings about possible flooding in regions including Azad Kashmir, northeast Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Koh-e-Sulaiman, and adjacent areas of Balochistan. Additionally, there are concerns about potential inundation in low-lying areas of lower Sindh, south Punjab, Peshawar, and Karachi.
Rainfall with strong winds and thunderstorms is expected in Islamabad and surrounding regions, as well as in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, and various other areas across Pakistan.
Other forecasted locations include Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Sargodha, Mianwali, Faisalabad, Jhang, DG Khan, Bhakkar, Multan, Khanewal, Rahim Yar Khan, Zhob, Shirani, Musakhel, Barkhan, Kohlu, Loralai, Sibbi, Harnai, Ziarat, Quetta, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Dera Bugti, Jaffarabad, Kalat, Khuzdar, Turbat, Panjgur, Karachi, Hyderabad, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sukkur, Khairpur, Larkana, Tharparkar, Umarkot, Sanghar, Mithi, Thatta, Badin, Jamshoro, and Dadu.
Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are also expected to experience rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms.
