Former Pakistani cricketer and coach Mohammad Yousaf revealed that his father converted to Islam. Mohammad Yousaf also known as Yousaf Youhana embraced Islam in 2005.
The former cricketer disclosed that his father converted to Islam just 10 days before his passing.
In an interview with the renowned speaker Qasim Ali Shah, he spoke about his struggles after embracing Islam and the reaction of his family and the public.
He shared that even years after his conversion, he continued to face criticism, especially from individuals in neighboring countries on social media. However, he attributed such negativity to ignorance.
Yousuf also expressed disappointment over the reactions from some fellow Muslims, noting it was disheartening to hear claims that he had embraced Islam for financial gain or status.
He emphasized that he was already wealthy during his cricket career and pointed out that he had stepped away from his position as a cricketer after his conversion.
The cricketer added that, “People need to understand that those who follow Islam are not angels, everyone is allowed to make mistakes and no one is perfect.”
Mohammad Yousuf also shared that his mother and brothers also had accepted Islam as he belonged to an immediate family.
His father embraced Islam during his first Hajj journey after persistent encouragement from a member of the Tablighi Jamaat. Initially reluctant to accept Islam, he eventually embraced the faith by reciting the Shahada.
Yousaf recalled the day when his father embraced Islam, adding that he died 10 days after converting.
Mohammad revealed that his mother and brother converted and two of his niece later married Hafiz-e-Quran.
This emotional story tells how faith has the power to change lives and the deep impact Islam has on Yousuf’s life and family.
