Former cricketer Mohammad Yousaf stood down as a member of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) selection committee on Sunday, citing “personal reasons.”
Yousaf said in a statement that he was happy to contribute to the national team’s development. He wished the squad success and expressed confidence in the players’ abilities.
“I am resigning as a selector for the Pakistan cricket team because of personal reasons.” Working on this fantastic team has been a tremendous honor, and I am happy to have contributed to Pakistan Cricket’s development and achievement.
“I have incredible trust in our players’ skill and energy, and I wish them all the best as they aspire for greatness,” he stated on X.
In contrast, confirming Yousuf’s departure, the PCB stated that the former cricket great made the decision to concentrate on other important tasks within the cricket board.
“The PCB would like to thank Mohammad Yousuf for his essential services as a selection board member. “Yousuf will continue to play an important role at the PCB, sharing his wealth of expertise as batting coach at the High Performance Centre,” stated a PCB statement.
Yousuf was the head coach of Pakistan’s U19 team, which came third in the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024 in South Africa, an official said.
Yousaf was selected to the Pakistan squad selection committee in March of this year.
