Former Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Amir has officially bid farewell to the sport, following Imad Wasim’s earlier announcement, according to reports on Saturday.
As per reports, Amir declared his decision to step away from international cricket across all formats—Test matches, One Day Internationals, and T20s. Reflecting on his career, he described his time representing Pakistan as a remarkable journey.
In his retirement statement, Amir remarked, “Playing for Pakistan in all three formats has been an incredible privilege. While this decision was tough, I believe it’s the right moment for younger players to step up and take Pakistan cricket forward.”
He expressed gratitude to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for their consistent support throughout his career and thanked fans for their unwavering encouragement, emphasizing his excitement about the future success of the national team.
Commenting on the retirements of both Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim, PCB’s Chief Operating Officer, Sumair Ahmad Syed, acknowledged their contributions.
“On behalf of the PCB, I extend heartfelt appreciation to Amir and Imad for their dedication to Pakistan cricket and wish them success in their future pursuits,” he said.
