A 28-year-old migrant died while attempting to cross the English Channel from France to the UK on Wednesday. The French authorities, this migrant was one of the 15 migrants who fell into the water near the coast of Hardelot.
The French emergency teams rescued 61 migrants, and some were injured and in serious condition due to hypothermia.
France Maritime Prefecture patrolling the Channel and North Sea reported that the migrant was flown to the shore via helicopter. Doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
French authorities are working to apprehend smuggling networks, stating the smugglers are risking lives by overloading boats.
The social activists also pointed out that human trafficking or smuggling is becoming a common issue and the migration pressures are increasing.
During the rescue, many fire trucks and emergency vehicles came to the shore to help the migrants.
A journalist saw six wet migrants sitting on a bench, wrapped in survival blankets, while aid workers assisted others.
So far this year, there have been 57 deaths related to Channel crossings. Authorities are reminding everyone about the dangers of these trips as they try to increase border and sea patrols.
Earlier this month, a baby died and 65 migrants were rescued from the English Channel by the French authorities.
