Michael Vaughan, a former captain of England, has made a daring prediction on the four countries he thinks would advance to the T20 World Cup quarterfinals. Notably, he left out traditional powerhouses Pakistan and India from his list.
On X, the platform that was then known as Twitter, Michael Vaughan posted a prediction for the four semifinalists, writing, “My 4 Semifinalists for the T20 WC, England, Australia, South Africa, and the West Indies.”
The exclusion of India and Pakistan, two teams that consistently compete in the T20 World Cup and make it to the semifinals, instantly generated controversy among cricket enthusiasts and commentators. Fans were shocked by Vaughan’s audacious forecast, considering both sides’ history in big T20 competitions.
This year’s highly anticipated mega-event, which pits India and Pakistan against one another at the Nassau County Cricket Stadium, will take place in three locations in the United States and six in the Caribbean.
The T20I World Cup teams for South Africa, England, Australia, and India have already been revealed, and it is anticipated that Pakistan and the West Indies will follow suit shortly.

After that, the eight teams will be split into two groups of four, with the top two teams from each group eventually making it to the semifinals.
