Taiwanese renowned actress Barbie Hsu has sadly passed away at the age of 48, on Monday.
The heartbreaking news was shared by her family. Later the manager of her younger sister, Dee Hsu, a well-known Taiwanese TV host also confirmed by writing on social media.
“During our holiday in Japan, my dearest and kindest elder sister, Barbie Hsu, fell ill with influenza-related pneumonia and has tragically left us,” Dee shared.
While the exact time and location of her passing were not shared, reports suggest that Hsu’s family is still in Japan. According to reports, Barbie’s family will will likely to cremate her in Japan before her remains are brought back to Taiwan.
The news of her passing on Monday left fans in shock igniting an overwhelming wave of sympathy and heartfelt condolences.
Hsu, widely recognized for her role in the iconic 2001 drama Meteor Garden, was previously married to Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei. From her first marriage she had two children. Later she married to South Korean musician Koo Jun-yup in 2022.
Hsu’s passing news is the top trending topic on Weibo Monday morning. Her fans are noting their shock about early passing of the celebrity.
“She is only 48 years old… this is too sudden,” one fan commented.
