The Meteorological Department has issued a forecast predicting national wide heavy rains across Pakistan from August 14 to 18.
As per MET office the heaviest downpours is expected on Independence Day.
In response to the forecast, the department has alerted rescue organizations to stay prepared for severe weather conditions.
The anticipated weather pattern involves intensified monsoon winds from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal, coupled with westerly air currents, which will bring significant rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms to various regions.
Punjab:
Major cities such as Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, and Sialkot will experience heavy rainfall along with gusty winds and thunderstorms.
Areas like Murry, Galatia, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Talagang, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, and Gujranwala are also expected to face severe weather.
Sheikhupura, Narowal, Okara, Pakpattan, Kasur, Khushab, and Sargodha will see substantial rainfall and strong winds.
The southern districts, including Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Khanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, Rajanpur, Rahimyar Khan, and Leh, are set to experience thundershowers and strong winds.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa:
From August 14 to 18, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Bajaur, Shangla, Buner, Kohat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, and Haripur will face strong winds and thundershowers.
Scattered thundershowers and strong winds are expected in Peshawar, Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda, Hangu, Karam, Orakzai, Waziristan, Bannu, and Dera Ismail Khan.
Balochistan:
Coastal areas, including Khuzdar, Lasbela, Awaran, Kalat, Zhob, Barkhan, Musa Khel, Mastung, Shirani, Kohlu, Bolan, Harnai, Nasirabad, Jafarabad, and Makran, will see strong winds and scattered thundershowers from the evening of August 15 through August 18.
From August 15 to 18, Mithi, Sanghar, Matiari, Umarkot, Tharparkar, Mirpur Khas, Khairpur, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, and Dadu will experience strong winds and thundershowers, while coastal areas are expected to remain cloudy with light rain.
Gilgit-Baltistan:
Diamer, Astor, Skardu, Gilgit, Ghanche, and Shagar will face intermittent rain and strong winds, with an increased risk of landslides in Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir due to the anticipated rainfall.
The Meteorological Department has advised the public to stay updated on weather conditions and take appropriate safety measures to navigate the forthcoming adverse weather.
