Pakistan Electricity load shedding has started in Pakistan rural and urban areas with the rise in temperature, disturbing routine life of millions of people.
Residents of Lahore are facing blackouts amid the high temperatures and severe heat.
The Lahore Electric Supply Company is conducting four to six hours load shedding in the provincial metropolitan while Sheikhupura, Kasur, Okara and rural limits under Lesco are under the grip of eight hours load shedding.
The company, according to an official, is facing 40 per cent shortfall in demand and supply.The other Discos ( power distribution companies) in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan have also started hitting the consumer with six to eight hours load shedding.
Officials in power sector say the national grid is facing 40 to 50 per cent shortfall. The shortage of fuel supply to power plants and reduced outflow from major dams are said to be reason behind the shortfall.
The power demand is hovering around 23,000MW while the generation stands at mere 16,000MW, officials say.
