Pakistani television and film star Mehwish Hayat recently opened up about her decision to turn down several Bollywood film offers.
During an Eid special interview with a digital media outlet, Hayat discussed her reasons for choosing not to pursue opportunities in the Indian film industry.
Unlike her peers—Mahira Khan, Saba Qamar, Sajal Aly, Fawad Khan, Humayun Saeed, and Imran Abbas—who have successfully ventured into Bollywood, Hayat decided to focus on her career in Pakistan.
“I have countless opportunities here in Pakistan,” she explained. “I’ve been a significant part of the revival of our cinema and have contributed to some of its most successful films. The respect and love I receive here are unparalleled. Given my achievements and the recognition I’ve earned in my own country, I believe it’s best to stay and contribute to the industry here rather than accepting offers from Bollywood.”
The star of London Nahi Jaunga emphasized her fulfillment in her work in Pakistan, noting, “People come to watch my films with their families, and that is a great achievement for me.”
Hayat is regarded as one of Pakistan’s leading actresses. She recently returned to television in ARY Digital’s telefilm Ijazat, acting alongside her close friend and renowned designer, HSY (Hassan Sheheryar Yasin).
