The University of Health Sciences (UHS) Board of Studies in Medicine approved the MBBS examination calendar on Monday.
SCHEDULE FOR MBBS EXAMS:
The board decided that first Professional MBBS Exams would be scheduled to begin in the last week of December 2024, the second Professional MBBS Exams would be in the last week of January 2025, the third Professional MBBS Exams would be conducted in the third week of December 2024, fourth Professional MBBS Exams was planned for the second week of January 2025 while final Professional MBBS Exams would be held in the first week of February 2025.
The new exam schedule was developed based on feedback from affiliated medical colleges, which provided insights on the start and end dates of classes.
The board decided that students must complete a minimum of nine months of the academic year to qualify for examinations.
“A one-month preparation period will be provided before exams,” said the board.
In line with a recent Supreme Court decision, the students who failed would not have the option to carry on to the next academic year.
Besides it, the students who failed supplementary exams would not be promoted to the next class as per the legal requirements.
The board also agreed to maintain the confidentiality of external examiners’ identities for practical exams from college administrations while practical and clinical exams would be conducted within three weeks of the final written exams.
“I will consider it a success when we achieve an exemption for the UK licensing exam for our degree,” said
Professor Ahsan Waheed Rathore, who was chairing the board meeting. Professor Al Farid-ul-Zafar, the Convenor of the Board of Studies in Medicine and principals from both government and private medical colleges affiliated with UHS were also present there.
