Television personality Mathira, known for her candid nature, recently joined the Rukhsat podcast and shared her perspective on the current issues affecting marriages.
She began by debunking the concept of an “ideal couple,” stating, “There’s no such thing as the perfect partner. You’ll never find the ideal man or woman, but you can find someone who makes you feel secure.” Mathira emphasized that true love is rooted in feeling safe and being able to express yourself freely, even when you’re at your most vulnerable.
She further elaborated on the dynamics of a relationship, explaining that it’s never an equal split. “A relationship isn’t 50/50 all the time. When your partner is going through a rough patch, you’ll need to step up and give more, sometimes even 70%. But when the balance shifts, your partner should do the same for you,” she noted.
Mathira also stressed the importance of authenticity in relationships. “We need to stop chasing perfection and instead aim for transparency. If your partner accepts you with all your flaws, you can work together to overcome them. That’s what teamwork in a relationship is about—helping each other grow by addressing each other’s weaknesses.”
Addressing a common societal misconception, Mathira said, “Sex is not the cornerstone of a relationship, it’s just a small aspect of life. Unfortunately, many people get trapped in toxic relationships, almost like an addiction. And one of the biggest misunderstandings in Pakistan is the belief that women are more inclined toward it.”
Mathira’s insights offer a refreshing take on modern relationships, highlighting the need for understanding, mutual support, and transparency.
