Marking the global day of forests, Maryam Nawaz, the Chief Minister of Punjab, kickstarted the largest tree plantation campaign, “Plant for Pakistan,” across the province.
The inauguration of the “Plant for Pakistan” initiative took place at the Chief Minister’s Office in Lahore, where Maryam Nawaz planted a sapling, symbolizing the commencement of the campaign.
Maryam Nawaz’s Appeal
Maryam Nawaz appealed to the public to actively participate in the tree plantation campaign in 2024, urging citizens to contribute to the “Plant for Pakistan” movement and make Punjab lush green and vibrant by participating in the “Plant Trees for Pakistan” campaign.
The Chief Minister of Punjab emphasized that the land is like a mother, providing life, sustenance, and livelihood. Planting a tree ensures that humans breathe, and the air becomes free from pollution. It beautifies the fertile land of Punjab even more.
Furthermore, Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Orangzeb expressed determination under the campaign to plant 1.8 million trees at 60,000 locations across Punjab. Today, 1.8 million trees were planted as part of this initiative.
The campaign saw a significant turnout of provincial ministers and students. In Changa Manga, over 13,000 students set a record by planting over a hundred thousand trees in a minute.
