A chartered helicopter carrying 14 individuals, including three Russian crew members, crashed in North Waziristan, KP province, on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of at least six people.
According to a spokesperson for Mari Petroleum, eight others sustained injuries in the incident.
The MI8 helicopter, chartered by Mari Petroleum, an oil and gas company in Pakistan, went down near the Shewa oil field due to what is believed to be a technical malfunction, as sources indicated.
The helicopter encountered problems soon after takeoff, and during an attempted emergency landing, its tail rotor made contact with the ground, leading to the crash.
The injured were taken to Combined Military Hospital Thal for treatment.
Mari Petroleum’s spokesperson confirmed that the accident was caused by an engine failure. “Although the helicopter initially managed to land, it lost control soon after,” the spokesperson stated.
