Manisha Koirala, a name synonymous with Bollywood brilliance, is now revelling in the quietude of a well-deserved rest.
From the poignant love story of “1942: A Love Story” to the intensity of “Dil Se,” she captivated audiences with her nuanced portrayals. Stepping into diverse roles like the fiery Chandramukhi in “Gupt” and the resilient Anarkali in “Bombay,” she left an indelible mark on Indian cinema.
After thirty years and a hundred films, she’s swapped the frenzy of the industry for a slower, richer life, savouring “me time” at her own pace.
Gone are the days of relentless schedules and impulsive decisions. Her Instagram post paints a picture of contentment: relaxing with her furry companions, exploring spirituality, learning music and dance, and immersing herself in nature. It’s a stark contrast to the “buzzing city” and “demanding profession” that defined her younger years.
“After 30 years and 100 films,” she writes, “I think I have earned my me time… By the grace of god, good people are around me, I soak in their love and care…” Her journey wasn’t easy, navigating the highs and lows of fame, the uncertainty of the industry, and the constant media glare. But she persevered, finding strength in true friends and cherishing her experiences, both good and bad.
“I prefer much quieter, slower, less shocks, less drama,” she admits. And who can blame her? Her current pursuit is “co-creating peaceful, happy, healthy, a wholesome life.”

This choice resonates with other actresses like Lisa Ray and Richa Chadha, who showered her post with support. As Richa aptly puts it, “You are amazing, accomplished and spiritually rich. You do you.”
Professionally, she will next be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Heeramandi” on Netflix alongside Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari and Sharmin Segal.
