Malala Yousafzai, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate and education advocate, made a viral first appearance in season 2 of “We Are Lady Parts.”
Scheduled to premiere on May 30 on Peacock in the US and Channel 4 in the UK, the show features Yousafzai in a cameo role.
In the much-discussed first look, Yousafzai, the youngest Nobel Peace Prize winner, is dressed in fringed western attire, complete with a cowboy hat, and is seen atop a horse alongside the show’s cast.
“We Are Lady Parts,” written, created, and executive-produced by Nida Manzoor and produced by Working Title Television, will see Yousafzai joining the band members, including Anjana Vasan, Sarah Kameela Impey, Juliette Motamed, Faith Omole, and Lucie Shorthouse.
Season 2 will follow the band as they return from their first UK tour with a renewed artistic mission, only to encounter a rival band that threatens their status quo.
As they work on recording their first album, they will juggle personal ambitions and question their desire for fame.The show’s pilot aired in 2018, followed by a six-episode first season in 2021.
It delves into themes of friendship, familial responsibilities, and societal expectations of women, with each band member offering a unique and complex perspective.
