Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik will officially take charge as the new Director General (DG) of Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) today, September 30, 2024.
Lt Gen Malik stands out as one of the most talented operational commanding officers in the Pakistan Army. With extensive expertise in operational intelligence and various military matters, he brings a wealth of experience to his new role.
Before his appointment as DG ISI, Lt Gen Malik commanded the Infantry Division in Balochistan and led an Infantry Brigade in Waziristan.
He has earned distinction throughout his career, receiving the sword of honor during his military training.
Additionally, he has held key positions, including Chief Instructor at the National Defense University (NDU) and as an instructor at the Command and Staff College in Quetta.
Lt Gen Malik’s academic credentials include graduating from Fort Leavenworth and the Royal College of Defense Studies.
He has also served in the Directorate of Military Operations, further enhancing his operational capabilities and understanding of military strategy.
