Unscheduled and irregular cuts in electricity supply have irked the citizens in Lahore as load shedding revisits the provincial metropolis with the start of summer season.
The Lahore Electricity Supply Company says the rain has affected the different feeders and the staff is working to ensure smooth supply. The Lesco ruled out any gap between demand and supply of power.
But on the other side, different areas of the provincial metropolis including Johar Town, Township, Model Town, Ali Town, Multan Road, Walled City, DHA, Shahdarah, Baghwanpura, Mughalpura and others are under the grip of six to eight hours load shedding. The consecutive and frequent cuts have continued since Friday.
The company is also conducting load shedding in its other urban and rural limits. An official of the Lesco said there is overall four to five hours load shedding due to multiple reasons.
Meanwhile, other distribution companies including Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco),Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco), Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) and Gujranwala Electric Power Company (Gepco) have also started conducting load shedding.
Officials in power sector say the consumers of Sepco (Sukkur Electric Power Company), Hesco (Hyderabad Electric Supply Company), Pesco (Peshawar Electric Supply Company) and Qesco (Quetta Electric Supply Company) are also facing five to six hours blackouts. They say the national grid is facing 3,000MW shortfall.
