The PTI leadership maintains that police have been instructed to keep its members inside their respective districts, despite the Punjab home department reportedly giving the party’s leaders and workers full rein to attend the party’s public meeting in Islamabad on Sunday (today).
However, the government warned that if the PTI attempted to instigate unrest in Punjab, the state apparatus would react.
The PTI was given permission by the Islamabad deputy commissioner to host a public meeting outside the federal capital, which is largely why the home department decided not to enforce Section 144.
According to the PTI, district police officials have been told to make sure that nobody is leaving the area for the demonstration by inspecting each car at the exit of each district.
In anticipation of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) holding a public protest at its Sangjani area today, the Islamabad administration on Sunday increased its security alert and closed off several routes leading to the federal capital.

The relevant authorities has issued directives to the police officers, requiring them to stay within their jurisdiction, provide all necessary equipment to staff on duty, and make sure that cell phones are not used while on duty.
Containers are positioned at many strategic locations across the federal capital to limit vehicular flow in order to preserve the state of law and order.
Every path that leads to the red zone has been blocked off with containers. The Margalla Road route is the only way for pertinent parties to access the red zone. Additionally blocked is the artery that leads from Chongi No. 26 on GT Road Taxila.
A number of locations along the Islamabad Expressway are closed, and there are also blockages at Rawat T Chowk, Khanna Pull, and Faizabad.
