Lahore High Court (LHC) has summoned Punjab Inspector Dr. Usman Anwar and the Advocate General of Punjab to address the issue of alleged rape case.
During the hearing Chief Justice Aalia Neelum questioned Anwar about the incident. She criticized Inspector about the failure to prevent the circulation of pictures and videos of a female student alleged rape.
“The girl’s life has been ruined. The IG must explain how such videos went viral”, Chief Justice remarked.
She further questioned how the Punjab IG remained unaware about this social media campaign.
Justice Neelum mentioned that the Anti-Rape Act prohibits the publication of a victim’s identity.
Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has established a 7-member committee to investigate the unverified case of an alleged rape of a private college student.
The FIA registered a case on behalf of the college administration against 36 individuals who run social media campaign. The case was filed under the FIA Cybercrime Circle.
The FIA is also scrutinizing social media accounts involved in this propaganda.
