The Lahore High Court (LHC) directed the Punjab government to switch motorcycles to battery instead of petrol.
Lahore High Court has issued the written order in a previous hearing in the Lahore smog remediation case.
In the smog remediation case, Justice Shahid Karim remarked that a policy should be made for small and medium-scale public transport in Lahore.
He said that strict monitoring of motorcycles should be directed in Lahore, if the smog policy is implemented seriously, it will yield positive results.
The court adjourned further hearing of the case till November 20.
Previously, the Punjab government announced a 50% remote work policy for employees in government departments due to the escalating smog crisis. The notification was issued on Friday for all government employees.
As per the directive, half of the employees will work from home, including those involved in inter-departmental meetings.
The Punjab government has instructed all institutions to ensure the strict implementation of this decision by disseminating the official notification.
