Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has detected a total of 429 connections involved in power theft.
The LESCO spokesman told media here Friday that the company has submitted FIR applications against electricity thieves. He said 166 FIRs have been registered in respective police stations, while nine accused have been arrested.
The spokesman said the LESCO found a large number of commercial consumers involved in theft. It diconnected nine commercial, two industrial, two agricultural and 416 domestic connected over theft.
The company charged a total of 298,649 units as detection bills amounting to Rs 10.600 million against theft.
He explained that LESCO charged detection units worth Rs 205,452 to an electricity pilferer in Batapur area. Rs 200,000 to another power pilferer in Qila Gujjar Singh area and Rs 200,000 detection bill to a customer in Raiwind area. The Lesco imposed fine of Rs 180,000 fine to an electricity thief in Race Course area.
The LESCO detected pilferage on 48,033 power connections and submitted 47,577 FIR applications in its anti-theft campaign.
