Morning rain and cool breeze turned the weather pleasant, bringing temperature considerably down.
Heavy rainfall was reported Ali Town, Johar Town, Lakshmi Chowk, Shimla Pahari, Davies Road, The Mall, Garhi Shahu, Faisal Town, Wapda Town, Akbar Chowk, Township, Model Town, DHA, Gulberg, Baghwanpura, Dharampura, Walled City, Shahdarah and others parts of the provincial metropolis.
Downpour in different areas inundated roads and streets, causing traffic jam and difficulties for motorists. Reports say long queues of vehicles at Canal Road, Jail Road, Mall Road, Multan Road and other parts struck the people as they were going to offices and businesses in the morning.
Rain caused disruption of power supply in parts of city due to tripping of dozens of Lesco (Lahore Electric Supply Company) feeders.
Citizens expressed joy as they felt relief after days humid and hot weather.
Meanwhile, moderate to heavy monsoon rain was reported across Punjab including Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Multan, D.G Khan, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Gujrat and other parts of the country.
Pakistan Metrological Department forecast more monsoon rains in Pakistan throughout the current week. Monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal penetrated the upper parts of the country on Monday. Under the conditions, monsoon rains to continue with occasional gaps in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Lahore, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Sheikhupura, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Okara, Pakpattan, Kasur, Khushab, Sargodha, Bhakkar and Mianwali from July 22 to July 25.
Met office predicted rains and thunderstorm in southern Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Bajaur, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Swabi, Nowshera, Mardan, Charsadda, Hangu, Kurram, Orakzai, Waziristan, Bannu, Lakki Marwat and Dera Ismail Khan, Balochistan’s Khuzdar, Kalat, Lasbella, Awaran, Ziarat, Zhob, Barkhan, Musa Khel, Shirani, Kohlu, Harnai, Naseerabad and Jaffarabad and Sindh’s Mithi, Sanghar, Umarkot, Tharparkar, Mirpur Khas, Sukkur, Larkana and Dadu.
It also issued warning for urban flooding, land-sliding, asking emergency services for making arrangements.
