A floating restaurant is set to debut on Lahore Canal near Harbanspura, marking a first for the city.
The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has earmarked Rs. 350 million for this ambitious project, which will also feature recreational amenities such as cafes, seating areas, and children’s play zones.
To bring this vision to life, three firms—Babar & Co, HRD Construction, and Riyaz Enterprises—have been shortlisted for the construction.
Alongside the floating restaurant, plans include upgrading a neglected picnic spot nearby, aiming to attract more visitors and enhance the area’s appeal as a leisure destination.
The PHA’s engineering team has developed a detailed blueprint to transform the canal into a vibrant family-friendly space.
Locals are eager for this new addition, anticipating a unique dining experience that combines natural beauty with modern amenities.
Speaking at the Punjab Assembly, the transport minister, Bilal Akbar, revealed plans to launch Pink buses exclusively for women on 16 routes in Lahore, with one or two buses assigned to each route.
He highlighted that a fleet of 300 buses will be deployed across the city to improve transportation facilities for women.
Additionally, Akbar announced the expansion of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system to cities like Faisalabad, Sialkot, and Multan.
“While Lahore has received substantial investment, it’s now time to prioritize other cities,” he stated.
Akbar also shared that 5,000 to 6,000 buses would be designated for each divisional headquarter to enhance public transport accessibility.
