On Tuesday, the Lahore High Court issued an order preventing the relocation of Aliya Hamza, a leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), from District Jail Gujranwala to any other facility.
The decision was announced by Justice Ali Baqir Najafi following a hearing on a petition filed by Hamza Jameel, Aliya Hamza’s spouse.
The court has instructed the Punjab government and the Attorney’s Office to provide detailed responses and reports by the next hearing date.
Hamza Jameel’s petition contends that Aliya is embroiled in numerous politically motivated legal cases, with new charges being added each time she secures bail in previous cases.
The court has requested a comprehensive list of all ongoing cases against Aliya Hamza and is considering a request for protective bail to safeguard her against potential unjust detention.
This ruling represents a significant step in ensuring legal safeguards for Aliya and promoting transparency in the handling of her legal issues. The court will continue to examine the allegations and assess the validity of the charges in the ongoing legal proceedings.
