Tensions in Kurram district have escalated into a prolonged conflict, now entering its sixth day, with casualties climbing to 102 and 138 individuals wounded, according to updates from law enforcement and medical authorities.
The region has witnessed severe violence, including gunfire and attacks on convoys.
On Wednesday, hospital sources confirmed two additional fatalities and six injuries.
Among the injured was a victim of a convoy ambush, who later succumbed to their wounds, pushing the death toll from that specific incident to 52.
Authorities have maintained a suspension of mobile and internet services across the district, while schools remain closed.
Transportation has also been disrupted, with blockades on the main highway and the Pak-Afghan Kharlachi border crossing.
In an effort to quell the unrest, a tribal council convened at the Commissioner House in Kohat, attended by tribal leaders and high-ranking officials such as the KP chief secretary, police inspector general, and Kohat commissioner.
Discussions centered on achieving a ceasefire and restoring stability to the area.
The commissioner announced plans for a larger divisional jirga to travel to Parachinar to negotiate directly with the warring factions.
Meanwhile, the chief secretary called for swift action to de-escalate the situation.
