ISLAMABAD: The KP cabinet is poised to take its oath of office today after Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur received approval from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan during their meeting in Adiala jail, Rawalpindi. Gandapur, following his discussion with Khan, promptly directed relevant authorities to arrange the oath-taking ceremony for incoming cabinet members at the Governor’s House.
The confirmation came after a meeting between Gandapur and Imran Khan, where the formation of the KP cabinet was discussed. Gandapur, in a statement, announced that the cabinet members would take their oath today.

The Initial list included the names of Aqibullah Khan, younger brother of former NA speaker Asad Qaiser; Faisal Khan Tarakai, younger brother of former provincial minister Shahram Khan Tarakai from Swabi; former provincial minister Shakeel Khan, Shafiullah Khan and Liaqat Ali Khan, from the Malakand and Dir districts; Meena Khan Afridi and Qasim Ali Shah from Peshawar; Khaliqur Rahman and Mian Omar from Nowshera; Dr Amjad Ali Khan from Swat; Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani from Abbottabad; Shafi Jan from Kohat; Akbar Ayub from Haripur; Zahir Shah Toru from Mardan; and Riaz Khan from the Buner district. However the official notification with the confirmed names was posted later.
However, some senior PTI leaders express concern about the selection process, suggesting that influential party leaders recommended the majority of the chosen cabinet members. The debate over merit-based selections versus recommendations from influential leaders adds a layer of complexity to the formation of the new KP cabinet.
The confirmed oath-taking ceremony today is expected to mark the formal beginning of the new KP cabinet’s tenure, raising expectations and questions about the lineup and the dynamics within the provincial government.
