Prominent figures Kim and Khloe Kardashian were among the high-profile guests who arrived in India on Friday for an extravagant three-day wedding celebration hosted by Mukesh Ambani, Asia’s wealthiest individual.
The ceremony marks the union of Ambani’s youngest son, Anant, and his fiancée Radhika Merchant, both 29, set to take place in Mumbai, following a series of opulent pre-wedding festivities.
The lead-up to the wedding has set a new standard for luxury, featuring a lavish European cruise for 1,200 guests, the construction of a bespoke Hindu temple at the Ambani family estate, and exclusive performances by stars like Rihanna and Justin Bieber.
The Kardashian sisters joined a long list of international celebrities at the event. Kim documented her arrival on social media, sharing a moment where her vehicle was surrounded by photographers, and both sisters received traditional flower garlands from hotel staff.
Other celebrity attendees, including actor John Cena, were seen posing for photos on the red carpet as they arrived at the expansive convention center owned by the Ambani family.
Notably, former UK Prime Ministers Boris Johnson and Tony Blair were also spotted arriving in Mumbai ahead of the festivities.
Earlier this year, the couple enjoyed a Mediterranean cruise that featured a masquerade ball in Cannes with a performance from Katy Perry.
They also hosted appearances from the Backstreet Boys, rapper Pitbull, and tenor Andrea Bocelli.
The ongoing celebrations are anticipated to elevate the grandeur even further, attracting a plethora of celebrities, politicians, and global business figures to Mumbai, despite the monsoon weather.
Authorities have closed off several major roads surrounding the venue for the weekend.
The main ceremony is scheduled for Friday at a venue with a capacity of 16,000, followed by a “blessing ceremony” on Saturday and a grand reception on Sunday.
Mukesh Ambani, the patriarch and chairman of Reliance Industries, boasts a staggering net worth exceeding $123 billion, ranking him the 11th richest person in the world.
He previously hosted the most expensive wedding in India for his daughter in 2018, which reportedly cost $100 million and included a performance by Beyoncé.
Ambani’s business empire encompasses oil, gas, petrochemicals, and luxury retail partnerships, alongside a vast influence in India’s economy.
