Actor Khushhal Khan continues to rise in the entertainment world with his remarkable acting, most recently portraying young Jaffer in the web series ‘Barzakh.’
In a recent appearance on Fuchsia Magazine, Khushhal opened up about the controversy surrounding his upcoming project, Duniyapur. The host asked about airing such intense content in a setting where law and order may not always be prioritized, sparking discussions about the show’s suitability and potential age restrictions.
Khushhal acknowledged the concerns, stating, “This is definitely a conversation worth having. The show features explicit content, including violence, and while it has garnered a broad audience, it’s important to note that underage viewers shouldn’t be watching if the material is inappropriate. If someone is sensitive to it, they should simply avoid it. Personally, I know what’s suitable for me, and if something doesn’t sit right, I won’t watch it.”
He went on to explain the importance of individual responsibility when it comes to choosing content, noting that with the vast amount of material available online, people can make informed decisions based on trailers and previews. “Families can easily view the content beforehand. No one is being forced to watch anything. We create these projects for entertainment, and if it makes someone uncomfortable, that’s not our goal,” he added.
Khushhal also pointed out the lack of explicit warnings in Pakistani dramas, mentioning that while there are scenes involving smoking or alcohol, there’s little guidance for viewers. “Parents need to take charge of what their children are watching. Even if there’s no blood shown after a gunshot, it feels illogical. If the scene warrants a warning due to violent content, there’s no harm in providing one,” he emphasized.
Reflecting on his own childhood, the actor shared how his parents monitored what he watched and applied age-appropriate restrictions. “They controlled what I saw, and I think parents today should do the same. If something isn’t meant for younger audiences, they shouldn’t be exposed. My younger brother, for instance, shouldn’t watch certain things—let him stick to Cocomelon.”
Khushhal Khan has previously appeared in notable dramas such as Qissa Meherbano Ka, Mohabbat Gumshuda, Wehshi, and Mushkil.
