Khalil ur Rehman Qamar, renowned for his work as a screenwriter and dramatist, recently shared details about his traumatic kidnapping experience, during which his abductors mentioned the names of actors Noman Ijaz and Saba Qamar.
In a podcast, Qamar described his reluctance to file a police report initially, partly due to the involvement of these well-known actors.
He clarified that while he has personal grievances with Ijaz and Qamar, he respects their acting skills and speculated that the kidnappers might have used their names to disorient and unsettle him.
Qamar was notably surprised by the support from his Indian followers, contrasting it with the negative reactions he received in Pakistan.
“The kidnappers’ intentions were unclear to me. My main concern was for my family. During the ordeal, I even told them to end my life if that was their aim,” he recounted.
He mentioned that his wife now wants to leave Pakistan because of the trauma from the incident, but Qamar himself remains firmly attached to his country and has no plans to relocate.
The kidnapping occurred last week in Lahore when a woman lured Qamar to her home under the guise of discussing a drama project.
Armed men then seized him, robbing and torturing him in the process.
Qamar eventually paid a significant ransom to his captors, who then released him. The Sundar police station in Lahore has filed a report based on Qamar’s account.
According to the FIR, Qamar was taken to several locations, threatened with death, and forced to provide money to his relatives.
The robbers also stole his phone, watch, cash, and withdrew Rs250,000 from his ATM card.
