The Sindh High Court (SHC) granted bail to Natasha Danish, who faces charges in the Karsaz case. SHC ordered the accused to deposit a bond of Rs1 million for her bail in the drug case.
Justice Karim Khan Agha presided over the hearing, where Farooq H. Naik represented the accused. Naik informed the court that one of the First Information Reports (FIRs) approved the bail application.
The public prosecutor argued that Natasha drove under the influence of drugs. Naik countered, stating the medical report showed no methamphetamine in her blood, only traces in her urine.
When the court asked about the methamphetamine amount, the public prosecutor admitted the medical report didn’t specify a quantity.
Naik further argued that Natasha had been undergoing psychiatric treatment for years, suggesting that prescribed medication might have contributed to the medical findings.
Justice Agha acknowledged the reconciliation between Natasha and the victims, noting that she is a mother of three and had spent 1.5 months in jail.
The court ultimately ordered Natasha to deposit a Rs1 million bond as part of her bail conditions. Previously, the police had registered a case against her for possessing prohibited drugs.
The trial court had initially denied her bail, but Natasha had already secured bail in the car accident case. On September 17, the SHC issued a notice to the prosecution regarding her bail application.
Natasha faced serious charges for negligent driving on Karsaz Road in Karachi, which resulted in the tragic deaths of 60-year-old Imran Arif and his 22-year-old daughter Amina, as well as injuries to three others.
Subsequently, an additional FIR was filed against her under Section 11 of the Limitation Ordinance Act, 1979.
The sessions court had previously granted her bail in the traffic accident case after the relatives of the deceased forgave her.
