Karachi commissioner has imposed Section 144 in the city of lights. According to the Sindh government’s official notice, all public gatherings, processions, and rallies are banned for two days, effective from today (Friday) and extending to tomorrow (Saturday).
Following the request of the Inspector General (IG) Karachi, the notice states, “Public gatherings of more than five people on October 18 and 19 are restricted in the city.”
These measures are temporary and intended to curb any potential unrest or unlawful activities in Karachi.
The Sindh government has granted the Karachi police the authority to enforce legal action against individuals who violate the ban.
This decision follows concerns over potential protests by PTI leaders nationwide against the 26th constitutional amendment and student protests related to an alleged assault case at a Punjab College campus.
