The government has further enhanced security of foreign nationals after Karachi airport suicide attack, reports say.
A suicide attack at Karachi airport killed three people including two Chinese nationals at late Sunday night.
Over 17 people sustained injuries as explosion caused damage to more than a dozen vehicles and buildings.
Explosion caused severe damage including12 vehicles partially damaged with three completely destroyed.
Investigators revealed that a suicide bomber used a Mehran car for the attack.
The bomber reportedly waited for a foreign convoy to leave the airport before crashing the vehicle into one of the convoy’s cars. The car, packed with explosives, caused a massive blast.
Authorities are working to retrieve the car’s number plate and chassis number to help identify it.
Security forces have sealed all exit and entry points to airport.
Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch strongly condemns this blasrt.
She mentioned that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is communicating with the Chinese Embassy to ensure coordination and assistance.
Highlighting the strong partnership between Pakistan and China, she stated that two Pakistan and China are iron brothers.
“Pakistan reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the safety and security of Chinese citizens, projects, and institutions in the country, and will continue to collaborate closely with our Chinese brothers to defeat the forces of terrorism,” the spokesperson added.
