Bollywood star and BJP member Kangana Ranaut was allegedly slapped by a female security officer at Chandigarh airport. The incident unfolded as Ranaut, who recently became a Member of Parliament (MP), was on her way to Delhi.
Reports from an Indian media outlet suggest the confrontation was triggered by the officer’s anger over Ranaut’s controversial comments regarding the farmers’ protests in India.
Ranaut explained that the altercation occurred after she had cleared the security check and was heading towards the boarding area. According to her statement, a CISF official approached and unexpectedly slapped her.
“I have been inundated with calls and messages from concerned friends and well-wishers. I want to reassure everyone that I am fine. Today, at Chandigarh airport, after completing the security check, a CISF officer assaulted me,” Ranaut recounted.
The BJP representative also alleged that the officer verbally attacked her, expressing support for the farmers’ protest as justification for the slap. While asserting her own safety, Ranaut voiced alarm over increasing unrest in Punjab and called for better handling of such situations.
Ranaut’s remarks have previously sparked controversy, notably when she referred to the Kisan Morcha (farmers’ protest) in 2021 as a “Khalistani movement” on social media.
