Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has strongly reacted against “India’s interference in his country’s domestic affairs.”
In a statement, the PM termed New Delhi’s “interference and actions” a horrific mistake.
He made the statement following the expulsion of Indian diplomats from Canada.
Both countries row over the killing of the Khalistan movement leader allegedly by India on Canadian soil.
Canada claims Indian spy agency involved in the killing of Sikh separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
“India made a big mistake, said the Canadian PM while responding to a question from journalists. New Delhi, he added, tried to interfere too openly in his country’s internal affairs.
“They [India] think they could interfere so aggressively in our internal issues and no one would ask them.”
Trudeau vowed more steps to ensure the safety of citizens.
Indian foreign office has also reacted over the Canadian PM’s stance.
“Ottawa has not provided any solid evidence to us which could back up their claim,” said India FM.
New Delhi linked diplomatic row to PM Trudeau’s personal politics, claiming it has nothing to do with the two nations.
