Shanzay Malik, daughter of Supreme Court Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan, was acquitted by the Islamabad District and Sessions Courts on Wednesday in an accident case from 2022.
Judicial Magistrate Adnan Yousuf presented a thorough verdict, noting key flaws in the investigation and evidence collection that led to the ruling.
According to the comprehensive verdict, the case began on September 23, 2022, with an accident.
However, the complainant filed the lawsuit three months and fifteen days after the occurrence.
The court emphasised that the case prosecution did not provide an official postmortem report, relying instead on an external assessment of the body.
The medical officer had specifically specified that a complete postmortem was required, but it was never performed.
Furthermore, the study uncovered gaps in evidence collecting. Blood samples from the accident location did not match the vehicle involved.
Furthermore, the police did not specify the speed limit on Kashmir Highway at the time of the event.
The court noted that the existing evidence was insufficient to convict the defendants. Given the lack of a postmortem, insufficient forensic analysis, and procedural flaws, the likelihood of a conviction after trial was eliminated.
As a result, the court approved Shanzay Malik’s daughter of Justice Malik Shahzad acquittal motion.
