Jamaat-e-Islami Emir Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman has also expressed reservations on the Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, demanding say of the parliament on it.
“Military operations are not solution to militancy,” said the JI Emir on Monday, a day after the PTI and JUI-F opposed it.
While the PTI called for taking the parliament into confidence, the JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman completely rejected the operation.
In a statement issued from JI headquarters Mansoorah, the JI Emir said the former military operations also failed to bear any fruit, rather they brought political and economic instability.
Rehman said the people of Pakistan particularly Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan could no longer afford military operations.
He said the military operations launched by General (rtd) Pervez Musharraf created a gulf between people and security agencies, resulting instability.
He said the region is paying the price of the US war against so-called terrorism. He said the people of Pakistan must be taken into confidence before launch of any operation. He said Pakistan and Afghanistan should start dialogue for the peace in the region.
It is important to mention here that the central apex committee of the National Action Plan (NAP) meeting held under the chair of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday gave approval to Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, a national resolve to fight against militancy and extremism.
